Welcome to the NewSound Network

The NewSound NetworkNewSound Network has entered the internet music business to present, to the listening public, the best selection of independent and undiscovered artists to be found. In the last 3 years, the music industry has lost money because independent artists who have been turned away from the commercial music scene for not having the current “it” factors began seeking alternative, unconventional avenues such as the internet to sell albums. NSN realizes that this avenue is where some of the greatest musical talent resides and we intend to magnify the chances of their sounds being heard -- all over the world.

The NSN Philosophy

The NewSound Network was born from the proverb "necessity is the mother of invention." Recognizing a need for more diversity in the arts, the founders of NSN introduced their notion to the world to increase public access to a new cultural phenomenon and the artists who inspired it.

The need for the NewSound Network was created by the music industry's strangle hold on almost all of the outlets for innovative music. Although the internet is already changing all of that, its power is still being under utilized. The NewSound Network will change how we think about the art of music and dramatically affect how we access it.

If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a world to change a culture.

Our Goals

In order to achieve our vision, NewSound Network has created a support base for its members that will span the globe. Through the sharing of resources, a global network of Musicians, Poets, Publishers, Promoters, Singers, Songwriters, CD Manufacturers, Graphic and Visual Artists, Web Designers and Booking Agents will offer their services in an effort to broaden the market, fan base, and technical support system for the members of our network. What we are offering will give any artist a chance to have access to audiences outside of their local area, an accomplishment often reserved for multi-million dollar corporations. We want to eliminate challenges such as image issues, which many talented artists are faced with in the current "face-value" minded music industry. NSN would like to allow the music of its clients to speak for itself to as many listeners as we can reach. The idea is to connect "underground" and "unsigned" artists with their counterparts in different, cities, states and countries. In the field of music, this has proven very successful for such sites as MP3.com and CD Baby.com. The New Sound Network will go a little bit further. We will open the door for New Music to be played in new places. We will sponsor events and import cultural ideas throughout the world. Wherever the internet is, we will be there.

NSN Operations

We begin with the music. NSN will encourage independent artists to submit their material. Our Network of DJ’s and A&R personnel will evaluate the material and select only the best of all the tracks we receive. Once these tracks are approved, NSN will fully prepare these tracks (proper mixing, mastering, etc.) for downloading. This is an exclusive distribution deal which includes the benefit of a solid marketing strategy with all the promotional "trimmings". NSN will utilize the knowledge and experience of industry professionals like our associate, Leisa Williams who headed the distribution department for WEA (Warner Bros., Elektra and Atlantic Records) for 17 years, to bring our artists’ music to EVERYONE. We have a deal for worldwide distribution via the internet as well as ipod (itunes), Tower Records, Virgin, Amazon.com, CD Baby, Borders Books & Music and Best Buy. NSN’s artists will also be distributed by MP3tunes.com, the rebirth of MP3.com, which former CEO/creator recently sold to Universal.

The NSN Team

The NewSound Network wants to be known as a company that offers the absolute best downloadable music. To accomplish this, we have assembled a core network of individuals and organizations backed with enormous achievements in each of their respective fields.

Soul Lounge’s Terry Bellow will collaborate with NSN to release new compilation cds through Warner Bros. Terry Bellow, most recently featured in Billboard magazine, has a syndicated commercial radio show reaching listeners from New York to Los Angeles to London to Africa. NSN helped put together a campaign to sell the compilation cd, Soul Lounge Vol. 1 which sold 11,000 cds in the first month and receives steady rotation on Terry’s radio show.

Melodic Syndrome, headed by Saan Corley, has released compilations of independent artists who have performed in their venues in NY, Philadelphia and other east coast cities. Melodic Syndrome has booked dozens of special events and showcases, including their annual Village Soul Music Festival in New York City. Melodic Syndrome will also be collaborating with NSN on an upcoming compilation cd.

PMT Consulting is another of NewSound Network’s alliances. PMT has helped artists such as Mothers Favorite Child to sell thousands of cds and achieve millions of downloads on music sites everywhere. Due to this volume of recognition, Mothers Favorite Child has been featured on the Peep Game movie soundtrack, performed at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, earned a place on Terry Bello’s Soul Lounge Compilation and so much more.

NSN plans to work side-by-side with these entities as well as others like Groovenation which is a highly influential multimedia company, MA Dzines, our resident web and graphic designer who has been responsible for so many intensely creative graphic displays and Websites, and several state-of-the-art studios to meet our recording needs. Involving ourselves with more than just music, NSN is also equipped with a video editor, and visual artists specializing in photography and painting. These are the tools that are necessary for us to give our artists the best quality in marketing, promotion, distribution services and support.
